The organization provides support and funding to Indian Americans running for elected office across the country. PTI, Washington. US Vice President Kamala Harris said on Wednesday that the number of Indian-origin Americans in elected positions in the US does not reflect its growing population. He said that more and more Indians should be active in politics.

 Kamala Harris said this at the annual conference of Indian American Impact, a think tank of the Democratic Party. The organization provides support and funding to Indian Americans running for elected office across the country.

A large number of people of Indian origin participated in the American elections

 Kamala Harris, the first woman vice president of Indian descent in the US, told a packed room of Indians that over the past few years, a large number of Indian-Americans have joined the electoral process. But even this number does not reflect the true proportion of their  growing population.

This is the second largest immigrant community :-
 Currently, there are five elected members of Indian origin in the US Parliament, which include Dr. Ami Bera, Raja Krishnamurthy, Ro Khanna, Pramila Jayapal and Shri Thanedar. American Impact believed that the number of Indian-origin Americans in the US Parliament would increase to 10 in 2024.Regarding the tough competition for the post of President, Indian American Impact says that Indians of American origin can also influence the election results in America. This is the second largest immigrant community and their population is continuously increasing in many states of the country.
